Costa Rica and Panama: Border Dispute 1921

The next year [1921] Costa Rica nearly went to war with neighboring Panama over a longtime boundary dispute; when Panamanian troops moved into disputed territory on the Pacific coast, fighting occurred until US officials persuaded the Panamanians to evacuate the area, which Costa Rica held. The boundary was not fully fixed until 1941.

Panama-Costa Rica border war was contained after US political intervention (February-March).
