Index of Wars and Conflicts relating to Romania

This index presents historical and modern wars and conflicts taking place in the present territory of, or relating to, Romania. The principalities of Wallachia and Moldavia - for centuries under the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire - secured their autonomy in 1856; they were de facto linked in 1859 and formally united in 1862 under the new name of Romania. Romania was recognized as independent in 1878.
