In Washington... The US Army Bill for 1942 is introduced into Congress. It calls for appropriations amounting to $10,400,000,000.

In the Mediterranean... The British submarine Taku sinks 3 Italian ships in a gun battle off the coast of Libya.

This chronological study of the Second World War provides a comprehensive day-by-day account of WWII. While focused on the military history of the war, with an emphasis on the battles and campaigns fought, the timeline includes social and political history as well.
