German attacks wear down Soviet defenses

German soldiers attacking on the Eastern FrontOn the Eastern Front... Soviet resistance in the Don Bend is beginning to falter as their defenses are worn down in the face of attacks from German Army Group B. Meanwhile, German 17th Army, an element of German Army Group A, captures Tikhoretsk.

From Egypt... as a result of the meetings held between British General Brooke, Prime Minister Churchill and the 8th Army Command, General Alexander is given command of the Middle East and General Gort, tactical control of the 8th Army.
