Kluge (Commanding Army Group Center), Zeitzler (Chief of the General Staff, OKH) and Keitel (Commander in Chief, OKW) are in favor. Guderian (Inspector General of Panzer Troops) and Manstein (Commander, Army Group South) are opposed. Manstein, in fact, originally suggested such an attack.

In New Guinea... Two Allied freighters are sunk in Oro Bay by Japanese air attacks.
