Part of the PLUTO system delivering fuel to FranceIn Liberated France... The first PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean) becomes operational carrying fuel from the Isle of Wight to Cherbourg.

On the Western Front... The US 15th Corps (part of US 3rd Army) captures Alencon and advances to the outskirts of Argentan where the German 116th Panzer Division is located.

Over France... Italian based American bombers attack the Bordeaux-Merignac airfield and then fly on to Britain.

In Italy... Elements of US 5th Army complete the capture of Florence.

In London... Prime Minister Churchill meets Yugoslavian partisan leader Tito.
