In Greece... Allied paratroops land at Athens airfield. Other British forces land on Corfu. German forces evacuate the Piraeus.

On the Eastern Front... In Hungary, Oradea is captured by Soviet forces of 2nd Ukrainian Front. The battle for Debrecen continues. South of Szeged, Yugoslavian partisans and Soviet forces capture Subotica in a joint attack.

In the Palau Islands... The US 1st Marine Division remains engaged against Japanese defenders on Mount Umurgbrogol.

In Formosa... US Task Force 38 (Admiral Mitscher) launches air strikes on Japanese positions.
