The French Army Revolt in Algeria 1960

French general Raoul Salan led a failed army revolt in Algeria (July) and then fled abroad, continuing to direct increasing terrorist Secret Army Organization (OAS) attacks on the French and Algerian governments, turning the Algerian War of Independence into a three-way war in Algeria and a right-wing guerrilla insurrection in France.
