Type: Frigate
Service: 1962 - 1994

The Commandant Riviere class were a group of frigates built for the French Navy and commissioned between 1962 and 1965. They were designed to perform ocean patrol in peacetime and as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) escort in wartime. All French ships were built by Arsenal de Lorient. The ships had accommodation for an 80 man commando detachment with two (25 man capacity) fast landing boats.
