German Corvette Braunschweig
Country: Germany
Type: Corvette
Service: 2008 - 2008
Ships in class: 1

The K130 Braunschweig class (sometimes Korvette 130) is the newest class of ocean-going corvettes in service with the German navy. The Braunschweig class corvettes feature reduced radar and infrared signature and were to be equipped with two helicopter UAVs for remote sensing. The UAV program has been delayed indefinitely, but the Braunschweig will be fitted with a small hangar and a helicopter pad nonetheless. The UAV is still planned and will probably be developed jointly by the German Navy and the German Army. The hangar is too small for standard helicopters, but the pad is large enough for Sea Kings, Lynx or MH-90 helicopters in use with the German Navy. One of the five planned K130 Braunschweig class corvettes is already in service with the German Navy.
