Indian Frigate Brahmaputra

Indian Frigate Brahmaputra
Country: India
Type: Guided missile frigate
Service: 2000 - 2008
Ships in class: 3

The Brahmaputra class frigates (Type 16A) are a type of guided missile frigate produced indigenously by India. The Brahmaputra class was designed by the Directorate of Naval Design of the Indian Navy. Construction was delayed because of labor problems, delays in equipment availability and integration problems with the Trishul SAM. This caused severe delays to the commissioning date of the first of class Brahmaputra. The vessel was laid down in 1989 and finally commissioned on 14 April 2000 after 11 years. All three Brahmaputra class frigates are currently in survice.
