The three Delhi class destroyers are the largest class of warship to built in India. These destroyers are a hybrid of Soviet and Western designs, incorporating elements of the Sovremenny class destroyer, the Rajput class (Kashin-II) destroyer, and the Godavari class frigate. The destroyer is fitted with sophisticated anti-ship, anti-aircraft and anti-submarine sensor and weapon systems. These vessels are well suited for power projection roles in the Indian Ocean Region.

Delhi (D61) is the name ship of the Delhi class destroyers of the Indian Navy. She was built at the Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai (Bombay) and was commissioned on 15 November 1997. Delhi (D61) is presently in active service with the Indian Navy.
