The five Borodino-class battleships (also known as the Suvorov-class) were pre-dreadnought battleships built between 1899 and 1905 for the Imperial Russian Navy. Three of the class were sunk and one captured by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) in a decisive naval engagement during the Russo-Japanese War, at the Battle of Tsushima. The captured Orel was renamed Iwami and served with the IJN until scrapped in 1922. The only surviving Borodino class battleship in Imperial Russian service (Slava)participated in World War I, serving in the Baltic until being severely damaged and scuttled in 1917.
Borodino class battleships: Borodino; Imperator Alexander III; Orel; Knyaz Suvorov; Slava.
