Assassination of Nadir Shah 1933

[ 1933 ]

Nadir Shah's brief four year reign in Afghanistan ended violently, but he nevertheless accomplished a feat of which his great-great-uncle, Dost Mohammad, would have been proud: he reunited a fragmented Afghanistan. A young man, whose family had been feuding with the king since his accession to power, assassinated Nadir Shah on November 8, 1933. His son Mohammad Zahir Shah succeeded him, beginning a reign that would end 40 years later with the 1973 revolution.
