Military Revolt in El Salvador 1944

General and President Maximiliano Hernandez Martinex (1882-1966) ruled El Salvador dictatorially from 1931 to 1944, when he resigned following a general strike (May 1944) in protest against his ruthless suppression of a military revolt the month before [April 1944]. The country's military-ruled government put Salvador Castaneda Castro (c.1888-1965) in the presidency.
